“I manage a telesales team who get sales leads by making cold calls. Is there a minimum number of calls they should be making each day, and if so what figure should they be aiming for?”
Mark Dickinson, Sales Manager, Concept Designs
Hi Mark. If your sales team are just making calls to book appointments for sales meetings, then they ought to be aiming for an average of at least 70+ calls per day.
This may sound like a lot, but it’s only 10 calls per hour if they’re on the phone for 7 hours a day. The sales teams I’ve managed easily averaged over 100 calls per day for appointment setting.
If your team are selling a product or service over the phone, then the number of calls they make per day will obviously be lower, because it usually takes longer to get customers to part with their cash over the phone than it does to just book an appointment for a sales meeting.
